Bread and Butter Pickles Recipe

The stuff:

8 large cucumbers cut into rounds
2 red peppers cut into strips
1 yellow onion cut into strips
1 cup apple cider vinegar
2 cups white vinegar
2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar
2 tablespoons mustard seeds
1 tablespoon celery seeds
1 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 cup water
6 pint sized canning jars with lids.

In a bowl combine cucumbers, red peppers, and onion.  Salt liberally and let sit for 1 hour.  Combine all other ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil.  Once it comes to a boil turn off heat and let steep while cucumbers, onion, and peppers are sitting in salt.  After an hour, rinse and drain cucumber, peppers, and onion – pat dry.  Put equal amounts of vegetables in canning jars.  Pour pickling liquid into jars coving the vegetables.  Let cool, cover with lid and store in the refrigerator.
